About us
Who are Calafunk?
Gospel roots, soul, R&B and a very Neapolitan, passionate, rhythmic heart: these are the ingredients of Raffaella Calafato’s artistic story.
It all flows into the house and dance music that has made her a name across Italy for years, with an incredible, engaging repertoire.
Meeting Elio Severino on drums, Stefano Romano on bass, Francesco Romano on guitar and Marco Corcione on keys turned into the band Calafunk!
Calafunk is not just a band, but an irresistible show that will get you out of your chair and onto the dance floor!

Vocals
Raffaella Calafato
A powerful, crystal-clear voice is her natural gift, backed by years of studying music and vocal technique.
Countless experiences have steered her artistic leanings towards black music.
She is also passionate about the atmosphere of house parties: under the pseudonym Ella Caulker she is the lead voice on house productions.
That explains the name the band started out with, “Ministers” Calafunk, after one of the most successful series of those legendary underground productions.

Drums
Elio Severino
Elio Severino is a drummer who blends tradition and modernity perfectly.
He plays acoustic drums, with which he earned a second-level degree in Jazz, and combines them with electronic drums and Ableton to recreate the sounds of a DJ.
That alone would say it all, but he has also worked across every field of music throughout Italy for years. Among other gigs, he is a regular in Francesco Cicchella’s band, and you can see him in action in Cicchella’s show on Amazon Prime.

Bass
Stefano Romano
The rhythmic backbone of the band! His passion for Afro-Cuban music gives him a powerful, smoothly solid groove.
A top-level professional who has worked for years in television, theatre and concerts, he has shared the stage with Ivana Spagna since 2016, and his playing features on her album “1954”.

Guitar
Francesco Romano
An electric and acoustic guitarist, Francesco joined the Calafunk project in 2015, alongside Raffaella Calafato, Elio Severino, Marco Corcione and Stefano Romano.
His sound is rooted in funk and strengthens the band’s groove.
A strong rhythmic instinct meets an excellent melodic sense and a creative use of effects that completes the band’s soundscape.

Keys
Marco Corcione
A pianist, but above all the band’s keyboard player.
His eclectic use of the most modern and sophisticated sound-management systems gives him a unique sonic impact.
He has worked with international artists such as Paul Warren, John Mader, Dave Marotta and Carl Verheyen, who chose him as a member of his celebrated CVB Band for its European tours from 2017.
